mixed media star collage love

I have been totally obsessed with mixed media collage this summer. Swooning over the textures that acrylic matte medium creates. It's easy to bring them out by using a small bit of dark acrylic paint on a paper towel. You just buff it in, wait a minute, then buff off with a clean paper towel. Total game changer. I've done hearts and stars.. trying to think of more fun shapes!

It's what YOU see . . .

“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” – Henry David Thoreau

Chewing a lot on the meaning of "artistic voice." There are so many artists I am inspired by/want to emulate. Yet, I want to put my own perspective and creative voice out there to be heard. Still figuring that part out. My style has changed a lot in the last few years. Time to do a lot of exploring. Today was a "find my voice play day" with mixed media . . . colored pencils, watercolor, acrylics . . . it was fun experimenting!

A Creative Weekend!

Playing with different media. Crayon over acrylics.

My weekend project. Background is doodles in acrylic and watercolor on an acrylic base, outlined in Sharpie. We were at the coast and I collected a bunch of driftwood inspired by this post. Love Alisa Burke's creativity.

Playing around with more backgrounds for future doodles!
Watercolor on acrylic base, on paper over cardboard.
Bunch of paper pits covered with palette knife applied acrylic.

Romans 5:5 - Hope does not disappoint . . Especially when it comes to Bisquick pancakes!

New mixed media doodle on the back of an unfolded Bisquick box. I had a great time layering it with newspaper and several layers of finger paintings. Then it was an all out assault with the paint pens. It was a, "need to get messy and vent artistically" kinda night.

Fairy Cakes Out the Door!

Ok . . the last of the fairy cakes for a while. This last one was my favorite of the 3 finished cards. God did not create me to do multi media on a small scale. This ATC swap was a challenge! It was like a glue bomb went off. It was everywhere . . . along with minuscule paper scraps on a grand scale!
